Landscape is made up of paintings done is Scotland and on visits overseas.   The process is one of making sketches at the location, photographing for additional information and then working in the studio to develop a response to the subject.   This is a refreshing alternative to a still life composition when I work directly with the subject arranged in front of me.  Landscape painting allows room for new ideas in colour and perhaps to invent a narrative within the landscape by the use of figures. This has been the challenge in the Lyon market themes.
